Meet Miss Malia
I'm Not Always Covered In Finger Paint...
When not hanging out with 4 year olds, I enjoy spending time with my husband Tyson and our two dogs Dobby and Klaus (who don't worry are most certainly not invited to preschool). I'm an avid reader, a history buff, and love to tinker around in the kitchen. I grew up in Boise and am lucky to have a large family living close by to keep me busy.
A Little About My Education and Experience
Nice to meet you! I'm a certified Early Childhood "nerd" who's been hooked on preschool since the first time I got my hands on some play dough. Over the last 15 years I've worked at some of the best preschools in the Boise and Meridian area, including the YMCA, Boise and Meridian School District and local private preschools. I attended Boise State seeking a degree in Early Childhood Education, and have bachelors in Early Childhood and Family Studies from the University of Washington. I have also supplemented my education with numerous conferences and trainings. Over the years I've taught more than 700 preschoolers, which has given me extensive experience and a strong knowledge base on how to create an inclusive and successful classroom. I've decided to take all of my education and experience and funnel it into my own preschool. I'm excited to be able to create a program that utilizes all the best practices that I've learned over the years.
Why I Do What I Do
What I love most about teaching preschool is the individual relationships that I get to develop with my preschoolers and their families. Preschool is a magical time in a child's life. I very much appreciate that I get to be a part of that. It's a privilege for me to be a part of introducing a child to the world outside their home.
